A dress that moves with you

By Mikaye is a Black woman-owned fashion brand based in New Jersey, making pleated stretch dresses for women who want to feel put together without spending the day adjusting what they are wearing.

We build almost everything on one fabric: a 100% stretch bounce knit with fine horizontal pleating running across the body. The pleats compress and release as you move, so the dress springs back instead of hanging flat. That is where the name comes from, and it is why our customers call them bouncy dresses.

Why we size XS to 4XL in every style

Most brands run a straight size range and then offer a smaller, separate plus collection with fewer colours and different cuts. We did not want to do that.

Every core By Mikaye style is offered from XS (0-2) through 4XL (28-30), in the same design, at the same price. If a colourway exists, it exists in your size. The stretch knit does a lot of the work here, adapting across a wide range of body shapes without needing alterations, which is also why so many of our customers wear our dresses straight out of the package.

What we make

Our signature bouncy dresses run across the Camellia, Magnolia, Peony, Jasmine, Dahlia, Gardenia, Bloom, Aster, Peri and Janna collections, in midi, maxi and mini lengths, in solid, ombré, floral, printed and colour-block designs.

Alongside those, the Aurora, Bow and Amber collections are structured rather than bouncy. They hold their own shape, with firmer fabric, a defined waist seam and sharper lines, for occasions that call for a more formal silhouette. We label every product page clearly so you know which you are ordering.

We also make the Hyacinth coordinated two piece sets, cut from the same bounce knit as the dresses.

Where our dresses go

Our customers wear By Mikaye to church services and conventions, weddings and showers, conferences, graduations, birthdays, cruises and holidays. A lot of what we make is chosen for days that run long, where a rigid dress that fit at nine in the morning stops being comfortable by the afternoon.

We offer group ordering for churches, conferences, bridal parties and organisations that need coordinated dresses across a range of sizes.
